Will Walmsley

Registered AOD Practitioner and Counsellor (Dapaanz)

 

Will Walmsley, brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and compassion to his role as Counsellor and Therapist. His extensive background in AOD and mental health, coupled with his work in custodial settings and community rehab’s, equips him with a unique perspective on human resilience. Will’s approach combines lived (Trauma and addiction) experience with academic expertise, offering strength-based/solution focused counselling that empowers clients to overcome obstacles and achieve meaningful change.

 

Will has personal experience of ADHD and Autism related issues as it has impacted him and his family personally. Will has a Level 7 Cert in AOD and mental health studies. He has a Level 7 Diploma in Applied counselling and qualifications in adult education. Will brings 13 years of clinical experience with 30 years of experience in various helping professions from youth work to clinical management. Will has previously worked for well known NGO’s such as Odyssey house Auckland and Christchurch. He has worked as a clinical manager for EAP services and had a short term contract for St John’s ambulance as a Psychological and well-being advisor.

 

Will is fully registered with DAPAANZ (1675) including as a clinical supervisor.

 

Personally, Will has passion for motorcycles and enjoys spending time with his 2 boys. Will is experienced at offering the following services.

 

•Individual Counselling •AOD related issues •Couples and Family Therapy •Clinical Supervision •Crisis intervention including suicide prevention. •Working with PTSD and related issues.
